About Valhalla Tahoe Weddings

1 Valhalla Road, South Lake Tahoe, California 96150

Valhalla Tahoe Weddings is a historic estate passionate about preserving the area’s culture. The property has several buildings that date back over a century. The Valhalla Grand Hall originally served as a summer home for Walter and Claire Heller until 1956, when it was transformed into a yacht club before its current use as an event space. The nearby Boathouse was first built in the late 1800s and now serves as a theater. At this estate, you are never too far away from an unforgettable celebration!

Details of the Grounds

If you are planning an indoor Valhalla Tahoe Wedding, you will be able to use the Grand Hall to exchange vows. Most people choose to have their officiant at the front of the room with the gorgeous stone fireplace as their backdrop. For an outdoor wedding, you will be able to use the lawn surrounding the lodge. This will give you a wooded area for a nature-filled ceremony.

The Grand Hall can be transformed for your reception with seating on the primary level as well as the mezzanine. The outside can accommodate tables for a lakeside dinner. You can set up a bar on the covered front porch where your guests can get signature drinks before playing lawn games. Valhalla has created two comfortable rooms where you can get ready with your party ahead of your wedding.

At the front of the hall is a stone fireplace that takes up the entire wall. A stone step up puts you at the hearth beneath an arched entrance. The rest of the room is covered in wood. There is a mezzanine as well as a rounded ceiling. The exterior of the house is a rustic wooden cabin surrounded by towering trees.

Photography Opportunities

Valhalla Tahoe Weddings gives you several key spots for your wedding pictures. There is a dock in front of the Boathouse that you can access so you can have the lake as the backdrop. The beautiful back lawn, forrest and porch, the possibilities are expansive and diverse.

SHALL WE MEET?

HI FRIENDS

I’m Kirsten—a wedding photographer here to guide you through this wildly exciting time…and toward the best lighting.

Ever since my days in the highschool darkroom, I’ve been enamored with the power images have to tell a compelling story. I went on to study photography and fashion at Savannah College of Art & Design and worked as an editor for a studio before founding Kirsten Marie Photography in 2012. Every day since, and I’ve fallen deeper in love with the art of wedding photography—there’s just nothing quite as fascinating and fulfilling as documenting the tenderness weddings bring out in people.

As someone who’s fairly spotlight-shy, I know how awkward being photographed can feel—which is why I work to bring an atmosphere of ease (and a wicked sharp sense of humor) to our time together. I pour my whole heart into hyping you up, getting you the material you deserve, and making sure you feel comfortable and cared for.

Beyond the lens, I’m a mom to two feisty girls. Translation: there’s no group I can’t wrangle, no mountain I can’t summit, and no trail I can’t traverse. While you’re soaking in sunsets and sipping champagne—you can find me crawling through bushes and traipsing through snowpack to get the best angle…and loving every single second of it.
