When you are planning your storybook wedding, you really don’t want to settle for anything less than magical. The first step in setting the mood for your celebration is to find a venue that understands your vision and will give you everything you need. As a Lake Tahoe wedding photographer, I get the chance to go behind the scenes of all the best venues in the area! If you are looking for a secluded space for your Tahoe wedding, let me tell you why I think The HideOut wedding venue might just be what you have been searching for.

About The Hideout Wedding Venue

43300 Hwy 88, Kirkwood, California 95666

Located amidst the woods of the National Forest, The HideOut wedding venue at Kirkwood started out as a family-run establishment. Tom and BJ Hoover enlisted their two sons to create a positively stunning lodge in the middle of the wilderness. They went to work crafting a space using the materials around the area so they could create a space that remained true to the spirit of the surrounding woods. With this venue, you will have access to a 5,000 square foot main lodge, 5 bedroom suites, 2 kitchens, and several decks.

Details of the Grounds

For your ceremony, you will have several areas at The Hideout Wedding Venue you can choose from. Of course, the most popular option is outside at their designated wedding site. Hosting your wedding here comes with lots of benefits. This area has been chosen by the venue because of its accessibility as well as its views. You will be amidst the trees with the mountains just beyond your ceremony setting. Plus, there is a parking area close by, ensuring that your guests don’t have to journey the Oregon Trail to be there.

They also have a designated wooden arbor that you can stand underneath as you exchange vows. If you still want the views but prefer a paved area, the space just outside of the Lookout is ideal. For more intimate outdoor weddings, you can use the overlook alongside the lake. If you would prefer something with a little more cover, you can use the Reception Area. The interior is fully wooden with rafters across the ceiling. You will get the chance to dress it up, so you have the perfect atmosphere for your wedding. This building features sliding barn doors, so you can let in as much–or as little–of nature as you’d prefer.

Once it is time for the reception to begin, most people tend to move their celebration to the designated Reception Area. Because this area is an open-air space, your party can effortlessly move from one spot to another. Some couples choose to take full advantage of this area by placing their dining tables outdoors so they can reserve the inside for dancing. You can also place your dessert table here to make sure the flies don’t sample it before you get the chance!

Even More Incredible Spaces For Your Day At The Hideout Wedding Venue

If you do decide to have a cocktail hour before the reception, you can set up a bar wherever you’d like. While many people choose to reserve an area at their ceremony site, others choose to have a bartender at the Reception Area to greet guests as they arrive. Another option is to use the Saloon. This Wild West-themed space remains elegant while embracing the soul of the surrounding area!

Because the property doubles as an inn, you will have comfortable on-site areas where you can get ready ahead of your ceremony. Both you and your spouse will have roomy areas where you can spread out and put on all the finishing touches before it’s time for your wedding to begin. As far as parties go, this site gives you enough room to throw a pretty legendary party. Between the wedding locations and the Reception Area, you can easily accommodate up to 200 people. Throughout the day, your guests are going to get swept up in the surroundings. This space was, after all, created to look like an escape, and you feel that spirit from the second you pull into the estate.

The Building Exterior

The exterior of The Hideout Wedding Venue buildings were crafted in the classic Americana cabin style using wood that was milled from the trees of the surrounding forest. The landscaping incorporates organic materials, using stones to separate each area. While there are paved outdoor areas, they tend to be minimal. The ground in the clearings is covered in dirt while the Reception Area has soft wood chips. As you step inside the Reception Area, this aesthetic continues. Large log columns hoist up the walls, and a tin roof covers the top. The trees tower around the building while bistro lights illuminate both the interior and the exterior. The inside is completely covered in wood. Regardless of whether you bring in lots of your own decorations or embrace the rustic theme, you are going to have a beautiful atmosphere for your celebration.

Photography Opportunities

With The HideOut wedding venue, you are going to have access to some of the most beautiful sites in nature for your pictures. As you get ready in your room, you will get the chance to access the balconies so you can have natural light for your individual portraits. The Saloon makes for a pretty wonderful backdrop for the groomsmen. Once it’s time to take your first look pictures, you will want to move outside. The area has several locations that let you get out into nature as you share this intimate moment.

Once your ceremony is over, you will be able to explore the grounds with your wedding party and find various spots for group pictures. The hot tub in front of the lake tends to be a popular spot, and the landing in front of the lodge will let you get some great pics of the venue that made all of this possible.

Wedding Details

The HideOut wedding venue adores hosting couples and will make sure you have everything you need for a great time. They offer kitchens and BBQs for catering, plus they will take care of all the set-up for you. You can use their PA systems, their chairs and tables, their patio heaters, and their lighted dance floors. It is pet-friendly, and there is parking on-site. With their lodging options, you and your closest friends and family will have a cozy space to crash throughout your wedding weekend.

SHALL WE MEET?

HI FRIENDS

I’m Kirsten—a wedding photographer here to guide you through this wildly exciting time…and toward the best lighting.

Ever since my days in the highschool darkroom, I’ve been enamored with the power images have to tell a compelling story. I went on to study photography and fashion at Savannah College of Art & Design and worked as an editor for a studio before founding Kirsten Marie Photography in 2012. Every day since, and I’ve fallen deeper in love with the art of wedding photography—there’s just nothing quite as fascinating and fulfilling as documenting the tenderness and palatable joy weddings bring out in people.

As someone who’s painfully spotlight-shy, I know how awkward being photographed can feel—which is why I work to bring an atmosphere of ease to our time together. I pour my whole heart into hyping you up, getting you the material you deserve, and making sure you feel comfortable and cared for.

Beyond the lens, I’m a mom to two feisty girls. Translation: there’s no challenge I cannot handle. While you’re soaking in sunsets and sipping champagne—you can find me crawling through bushes and traipsing through snowpack to get the best angle…and loving every single second of it.
