Romantic Lake Tahoe Wedding at Sunnyside
Matt and Kaitlyn’s wedding at Sunnyside on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe was the perfect blend of romance, nature, and timeless style. As a wedding photographer in the Lake Tahoe area, I couldn’t have imagined a more dreamy setting to document their “I dos.” Even with a light drizzle in the air, the day felt like a lakeside fairytale — full of intentional details, soft fall tones, and breathtaking views of the Sierra Mountains and Lake Tahoe.
Designed by Jalie and brought to life with the stunning work of Haven Florals, the vision embraced everything couples love about a modern, romantic Lake Tahoe wedding: an intimate al fresco ceremony by the water, lush seasonal florals, and thoughtful, personalized touches that made guests feel at home.
Matt and Kaitlyn’s wedding at Sunnyside on Lake Tahoe’s West Shore was nothing short of magical. Even with a mist of rain settling over the lake, their day unfolded with joy, warmth, and an undeniable sense of love that radiated through every detail. As their wedding photographer in the Lake Tahoe area, I was honored to capture not only the breathtaking beauty of their setting, but also the genuine kindness and vibrant personalities of two people so clearly meant to be together.
A Romantic Lakeside Ceremony
The ceremony space was designed to embrace the natural beauty of fall on the West Shore. Two striking asymmetrical floral installations framed the altar, overflowing with taupe, mauve, dusty pink, and maroon blooms, with subtle greenery woven throughout. Lush floral accents lined the aisle, creating a garden-inspired path that led to the water’s edge.
With the Sierra Mountains and Lake Tahoe as their backdrop, Matt and Kaitlyn exchanged vows in a setting that felt both intimate and expansive. The drizzle added a softness to the day, and far from dampening spirits, it made the atmosphere even more romantic. Their joy was unwavering — you could feel it in every laugh, every smile, and every tear shared with family and friends.
Timeless Style and Thoughtful Details
Kaitlyn and her bridesmaids were stunning in blue and green chiffon gowns, mixing solid hues with patterned designs for a modern, feminine, and romantic look. Their bouquets, designed by Haven Florals, tied everything together with a palette of muted fall tones and natural textures.
Personal touches were everywhere. Guests were welcomed with a custom wood lattice display, featuring escort cards attached to seed packets — a thoughtful and symbolic detail, accented with florals at the base of the setup. Inside the reception space, tables were adorned with centerpieces of dahlias, maple, garden roses in a neutral palette with small pops of color. Between the arrangements, taper candles and glowing votives in clear and amber holders created a warm, inviting ambiance.
What stood out most about Matt and Kaitlyn’s day wasn’t just the stunning design or the jaw-dropping backdrop — it was the way their families came together with so much joy and love. From heartfelt toasts to the laughter that echoed throughout the night, the energy was truly infectious. It was clear that this celebration was about more than just two people; it was about the community of loved ones who had shaped their story and were now gathered to witness their next chapter.
Matt and Kaitlyn’s kindness and warmth touched everyone around them. They embraced the drizzle with grace, never letting the weather dim their excitement or the happiness they felt in marrying one another. Their resilience and joy made the day uniquely theirs — and a reminder that the best weddings aren’t about perfection, but about love and the people who surround you.
As a Lake Tahoe wedding photographer, I find that Sunnyside is one of the most beautiful venues to showcase the magic of this region. With its lakeside setting, mountain views, and flexible indoor-outdoor spaces, it offers couples the chance to create a day that feels both elegant and deeply connected to nature. Matt and Kaitlyn’s celebration was the perfect example — a blend of thoughtful design, personal details, and an atmosphere filled with love.
Their wedding at Sunnyside will always stay with me, not just for its beauty, but for the way it reflected who they are: warm, kind, joyful, and ready to embrace life’s unexpected moments hand in hand.
