As a Lake Tahoe wedding photographer, I get the chance to go behind the scenes at some of the best wedding venues around. If you are on the search for the perfect spot for you, let me tell you what you can expect from a PlumpJack wedding.

About The PlumpJack Wedding Venue

1920 Olympic Valley Road, Olympic Valley, California 96146

The PlumbJack Inn is a boutique hotel wedding venue in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of North Lake Tahoe. This center was built to give you a mountain adventure you will never forget! When you book your stay at the PlumbJack, you can look forward to modern yet comfortable rooms, delicious food, and unforgettable activities just beyond your doorstep. While the hotel will make sure you have every luxury, it’s also going to make sure you have an authentic mountain experience. The exterior of the building is modeled to look like a rustic cabin, and the rooms are filled with organic decorations. If you plan your wedding here, you can count on this same combination shining through every aspect of your celebration!

Details of the Grounds

Most couples choose to use PlumbJack as an outdoor wedding spot. The exterior has a ceremony spot called the Creekside Patio. Here, you will find a landing paved with stone. As you exchange your vows, you will have the towering mountains as your backdrop. This area is gorgeous no matter the time of year. If you are brave enough to take on the cold, you will have some of the best views of the snowcaps. During the fall, the area turns positively vibrant with the changing colors. This area is close enough to provide you with all the indoor accommodations while ensuring your ceremony feels totally private.

The inn has indoor spaces if you need to move your ceremony inside for any reason. Add some draping and lots of flowers, and the atmosphere will become positively dreamy.

Many people choose to move the party indoors once it’s time for the reception. With this option, you don’t have to worry about the air getting too brisk as the night goes on. Your guests will have a cozy space to mingle and feast before it’s time for the dancing to begin! Both the Mountain Room and the Valley Room will provide you with an indoor, refined space ready to accommodate hundreds of guests.

If you would prefer to have this portion of the night outdoors, you can use the Upper Pool Patio. Here, you will have a designated space to celebrate while still enjoying all the mountain views. They offer a gas fire pit as well as heat lamps to keep you nice and toasty. The Lower Pool Patio offers the same amenities while putting the pool right in the center of the space. You can set up your tables around this area and enjoy an elegant atmosphere for your party.

Even More Exciting Spaces For Your PlumpJack Wedding

The PlumpJack Upper Pool Patio is one of the best spots for your wedding cocktail hour. Your guests will have a comfortable space to sip on signature cocktails while enjoying mountainside views.

With the venue’s assortment of packages, you will have a hotel room where you can get ready ahead of the wedding. Spread out with your wedding party and sip on some champagne while you put on the finishing touches!

The interior of the hotel is simple yet elegant. The Valley Room features off-white walls with dark paneling across the lower portion. Dark carpet adds contrast. Meanwhile, the Mountain Room offers windows that invite natural light. The carpets are a rich forest green, and the walls are white with wooden frames around the doors and windows. Both the Upper and Lower Pool Patios show off the rustic venue as well as the surrounding mountains. The Creekside Patio gives your guests a designated clearing where they can enjoy the ambiance of the nearby water. The Creekside Patio, the Mountain Room, and the Valley Room will all hold up to 200 guests. Meanwhile, the Upper Pool Patio will host up to 150 guests.

Photography Opportunities

For your PlumpJack wedding portraits, you are definitely going to want to take advantage of the mountains! The venue offers several unobstructed spaces where you can get pictures with just you, your partner, and the surrounding wilderness. Once your wedding ceremony concludes, you can use the Creekside Patio for group portraits. This gives your wedding party an accessible space with gorgeous views. The carport of the hotel gives you an easy way to incorporate the name of the hotel for your portraits. Lastly, the patios will let you get sun-soaked pictures with you and your guests.

Beyond providing you with a breathtaking wedding space, the PlumpJack Inn is going to make sure you have everything you need for your dream day! SHALL WE MEET?

HI FRIENDS

I’m Kirsten—a wedding photographer here to guide you through this wildly exciting time…and toward the best lighting.

Ever since my days in the highschool darkroom, I’ve been enamored with the power images have to tell a compelling story. I went on to study photography and fashion at Savannah College of Art & Design and worked as an editor for a studio before founding Kirsten Marie Photography in 2012. Every day since, and I’ve fallen deeper in love with the art of wedding photography—there’s just nothing quite as fascinating and fulfilling as documenting the tenderness and palatable joy weddings bring out in people.

As someone who’s painfully spotlight-shy, I know how awkward being photographed can feel—which is why I work to bring an atmosphere of ease to our time together. I pour my whole heart into hyping you up, getting you the material you deserve, and making sure you feel comfortable and cared for.

Beyond the lens, I’m a mom to two feisty girls. Translation: there’s no challenge I cannot handle. While you’re soaking in sunsets and sipping champagne—you can find me crawling through bushes and traipsing through snowpack to get the best angle…and loving every single second of it.
